ANGEL

Born Maggiel Angelica Williams,,Angel is an up and coming poet writer and Spoken word artist she is also a New Orleans Native. Her parents had a rough relationship her father a powerful business man died when
she was only 3 yrs old and her mother a genius with a drug problem
that caused her children to be placed in foster care. Angel one of six
kids grew up with only one of her siblings. A brother named Ronald who
she cared for and loved dearly. Ronald met an untimely death on Aug.
29 during Hurricane Katrina only 7 days after his 22nd Birthday. Her
troubled past as well as her unusual success in writing is what made
her into the writer she is today. Mixing pleasure with painful
memories is her formula to success when she wants to win over her
readers. Writing came as easy as breathing for this poet considering
that her mother is an ancomplished writer herself. But as the years
went on her writing turned into rambling and her drug addition proved
fatal to the young mothers career. Angel sets out to distance herself
from that future by taking her pain and turning it into a work of art.
Not wanting or having the desire of being a victim she writes pieces
like Me, Quick, and Free just to name a few. Her poetic style is
simple she just dosent have one," basically I have a thought and I put
it on paper" she says,,,sounds easier said then done. That's just the
genius behind this writer she writes to clear her mind and heart
that's it. As she creates these works of art she one day hopes to have
millions reading her work just like her idol Maya Angelou. A mother of
4 and a wife Angel says,, " I don't want fame I just want to know my
dreams of being a writer is possible to get my story out there to show
other people like me that anything is possible". You can read more of
her work on her site  http://angelbaby504.wordpress.com/.

ME

At this point I’m looking at you and saying why,
Why must you say what you say to make the tears fall from eyes,
Life’s to short to be hurting over the things you choose to do,
you know if you that unhappy you can leave I havent kidnapped you,
I mean why stay if this isn’t where you want to be let it go,
Aint shit to talk about because your actions run this show,
I’m talking to a man who have a good woman that’s the words from your lips,
A woman who has given you the most of her especially from my child-bearing hips,
A woman who will move every single creature, human, and fixture for you smile,
This same woman who will do all this for a man who hasn’t seen mine in a while,
A mans who has stolen the very well guarded keys to my hearts wall,
And in this time we’ve spent together  your on the verge of losing it all,
Was no I mean is it worth it can you tell me I want to know the answer,
Cause for me this has been like a death sentence your Love is Cancer,
Its killing everything about me my smile my drive my soul my passion,
And there’s nothing you can possibly do to keep it from happening,
Your time is up as a cancerous tumor in my life,
Your done being worthy of having a queen as your wife,
Theres no more sand in our love hour-glass the last grain just dropped,
On one hand I’m happy and relieved and then my heart just stopped,
As I struggle to breathe alone for the first time in many years it feels great,
To no longer be one and starting over I think I will be ok,
I hope your happy at the place you apparently wanted to be,
Because from this moment on I gotta take care of ME!!

NEVER

Never have I smiled this much,
My body has never exploded at one touch
Never have my heart felt so light
Never do I feel lonely at night
My eyes never been filled with such peace
Never has a man made me light on my feet
Never has love felt so pure and good
Never I say, but knowing it always would
My lips have never spoke of only Love
Never have I had Love from up above
My nights has never been filled with more desire
Never has my body and soul been set on fire
My love has never been just fine
Never have I had a Love all mine!!!

COLDER

As I begin to do some self reflecting I see me,,
but the way you do so now Im trying to figure out
whats the fuss about
cause at the same time I just cant see it
I just cant be it
I’m not cocky so I feel a certain way
from day to day they call me bipolar aye,,,lol
I laugh cause at times I wanna cry why
do a beautiful woman feels like a monster inside
I’m lost,,,NO I’ve lost my heart
honestly  I really dont think it was there from the start
Of my creation,,
but my mind has words of persuasion
that makes you think I got one
but then you quickly realize when you hear the sound of that hand gun,,,
that goes off at the drop of a dime
when I feel like Angel is taking over my mind
she is the rowdy type
the one who like to fight
but only at night
cause she just aint right,,lol
NO but for real Im just a girl who grew up to fast
Oooh shit no Im not going back in my past
cause all that BS is over,,
shit rolls off my shoulder
as I dodge them vulchers boulders,,lol
cause the older
I get my life gets
COLDER
and
COLDER!!!!
REAL TALK!!!

Conviction Through a Dream

BY ELYSE

The betrayal
has disconnected US
The truth
can only reunite US
The fear
no longer binds ME
I will let u lead..............
Last night I had a dream
1 that has been a long time comin
It was of my Messiah n the Heavenly Father
Speakin 2 me
They said look at yourself Elyse
So I sat by the Holy Spirit n he held my hand
So I said ok LORD I'm ready to see
He said so shall it be, show me Elyse
I smiled cuz when I looked up it was ME
As I watched I noticed it wasn't the ME
I want them 2 see
So it kept playin
My heart started achin
My legs started shakin
I looked at every trial and tribulation
And I said Hey u guys were there
They shook their heads n agreement
Then the Heavenly Father says 2 me shhhhhh listen, please
I said Oh my LORD
That's u whispering n my ears, tappin my shoulder
Y didn't I listen 2 u
Those times I did those things
U were n the midst tellin me NO!
STOP!
DON'T YOU GO!
U called out for ME
N I never answered
He said Yep
Acting as if u didn't hear me.
I shoulda answered
I never woulda kept suffering
He asked me why?
I said honestly
It's no excuse
But with 1 more try
I promise I
will take heed
Cause I kno I'm a reflection of you
I'm gonna walk like u
Talk like u
I'ma be more like u
Sin is hard 2 turn from
Temptation appears everyday
And in everyway
Especially when u don't see my child.
Use my word as ur guide
Put aside all ur pride
Ur defense is right there
Don't take anything n stride
Cuz baby girl u have a long ride
So u gotta learn 2 pull through
For so long u have been letting u kno who
drive u
He is in front of u n ur lane!
U let him block u
From what I told u
So do as I say do
NOW
Pull around 2 the side
N speed up
DRIVE!
I will protect n keep u
I'm always there right beside u
Elyse just let ME lead U
So what are u gonna do?
I said wit a smile sheesh alotta pressure I see
But I agree
Heavenly Father go ahead and i'ma let u lead
And so shall it b
I'm a new model of me!

JUST HATE

BY ELYSE

Don't u just hate
When somethin is placed on ur plate
To much 2 late....
So much ate
U had 2 past that plate
The fate
Had a  date
A date which was stole
Time couldn't console
The pain in which
That demon soiled n spoiled
Made a mockery of
All that had been foiled
I gave my life 2 u
My soul 4 u
But u wouldn't let it grew
Yea I meant grew
I kno it  should b grow
But u throw
Shit nigga u
Threw my love....my seed
N which I pleed 4
The bribery
Left me to bleed an eternity.
Bitch u'll never get me
Never comprehend
What I am bout 2 b
See u tend
Not 2 bend
Never give in
Flip shit like its me
But it lied n thee
All the Fuckery
Deception n non sympathy
I shoulda listened 2 that
Symphony
It told me
All I needed 2 kno
I shoulda been let u go

Ohini Jonez is a pissed off artist who can't take it anymore. Born in the city-state of Brunswick, on the Planet Georgia in the Stankonia Star System (Dirty South), Ohini Jonez has had to tolerate a lot of bullshit. Monopoly's taking over the industry and breaking it down into 3 companies distributing music. Weak ass writers only talking about pussy and dick with nothing adding to the imagination. Dry political rhetoric from Black people who forgot Democrats fuck them too, only its with a condom so you feel a little less disrespected. Oh yeah, and people who pour paint on a canvas, let their six year old walk on it, and call it art. Just because your beats are off key don't make you Sun Ra, it means you're tone def. Just because you pause instead of saying like in your similes doesn't make you an artistic genius, it means you steal from Big Sean. If you paint and can't draw put some meaning behind it. And poets, please progress what the hell you say, because some of you don't, stuck in 1995 and shit... dildo's...
August 26th 1987 to Infinity I'm out this bitch like a one night stand....

Black Warhol

When will Edie commit suicide? And do you think she'll let us film it?
Can we catch her soul in a digital camera...
Or will the release of her spirit simply burn into the 8millimeter film of my mind?
Using my apathy to take the worlds self destruction in context
You all deserve it... Letting 15 minutes of fame and imaginary value
Trick you into thinking any of this is worth it at all
Contempt is the first sign of becoming a monster, under a full moon of fallacy
My genuine concern has transformed into a snarling malevolent pity
Its malevolence is designed so I don't feel pain and waste tears
That would only bead and slip off your plastic world
Despising my humanity for connecting me with silicone two legged impostors
Microchip wired technovirus infected digested potential
Shitted out listening to Top 40 in a cubicle pushing pencils
Shitted on by a system that only rewards minstrels
Poisoning the planet Mother Nature on her Menstrual
In this current state of PMS (Post Modern Society)
The law of Prehistory applied to life today
The law of the jungle is competition, meanwhile civilization
Is merely an Extinction Level Event away
Maybe the roaches can do better....

Cultural Evolution

Hunger is murder and war is time wasted while some needledick with a phallic complex
Finger fuck's someone's fate with the extension of his failed manhood
Feeling like I'm Che leading a revolution towards spiritual communism
Urging man to share in nothing but a sense of Oneness
Instead we're a Nation of numbed affection and neglected dreams
Satisfied with the material when the ties that bind us are not of this World
I seek this Infinite Energy in an Internal Deep Space
Making portals to the Soul out of Beat Breaks
Chopping loop's of truth and spitting 16's of Experience
While God man's the turntables on my Inner Galactic Stage
Hip Hop is my Culture and we were born in Poverty matured through Bloodshed
And now we emerge as a movement only lacking in direction
I suggest our Movement marches in the direction of Love
With just enough skepticism to separate the real from the Dream World

I was born in Puerto Rico but raised in Massachusetts since the age of one. Having grown up in Brockton, MA, there has always been a stigma that people who come from here either carry weapons or sell drugs. I did both. But there was a time in my life where I chose writing as a way of escapism and creativity. I began writing poetry as a teenager when I learned I was a girl with a resentful soul but a passionate heart. Being a person who never expressed my pain, I entered a world of words that allowed me to exist in a place where my voice didn’t have to be censored. I believe that expressing myself through writing, I am able to let out some of my most inner emotions, thoughts, and experiences without the apprehensiveness I have when I am verbally expressing myself. Most of the time I am an open book but when I write I free a side of myself that people will never experience in person. Yet, I am able to somehow feel a deeper connection with them. My poetry is real. It is the truth behind my actions. It is the purest essence of my soul.

My Letter

I am writing you this letter so that you could forgive me.
For not loving myself enough or believing you are still with me.
I have a heart with an altered love, full of falsified emotions.
I learned to hide behind walls and stay lost in time with images of a created motion.
I move forward, yet remain in the same position not having the strength to truly transition,
From the broken child to an immaculate woman
I remain in a time of chaos and never fully understanding the stability
I created in a world less devastated.
But still cried out and lost in a womanhood that trauma created.
I am writing you this letter so that you could forgive me,
For never truly using my gift and never allowing my turmoil to fully shift
Into the strength you have created within me because I allowed fear to embrace me.
To define me and leave me comfortable in a place I call home.
I am writing you this letter so that you can become me, and I you,
In this life I know that  can be pure and true.
Where my existence can shine through the light you have given me
And show me the way my heart knows you have paved for me.
So I can learn who I am and understand who you are, through me.
I am writing you this letter so that my lost soul could be found and your love can exist so profound.
Pound for pound, against my chest through the passion I possess
To make all things around me as genuine as all the things I confess.

Unsolidified Friendship

I spent years building a friendship that I hoped was solid enough to overcome anything.
Everything about us was about communication, trust and growth.
And one day it became more than most.
A simple kiss, a gentle touch, we became intimate and I thought it was love.
We grew close and spoke about the first time. To converse about the actions that took place, or perhaps did not.
As time passed I realized I felt something more,
This so called, friend, I so much adored.
We kissed, we touched, we loved….. we reached a level of intimacy that can either make or break our bond.
But he wasn’t “ready” for the realness. He just wanted to chill and hang on.
With the bond stronger we were still “friends”.
A little more than most, but with commitment still a ghost.
I was in love with him.
He made exceptions for me and reached levels of commitment he had never achieved.
Of course I thought he was ready for me.
I became so consumed in trying to figure everything out.
I started to ask questions, wanted more of his time, had a higher need.
I wanted his heart because his time was not stopping. Time was not stopping.
Discussions became disagreements and then became arguments.
 All of a sudden the bond felt broken. What I failed to realize was that it took time to feel these emotions;
I accommodated his reluctance. He was comfortable with the way things were.
The situation was different but satisfying, sufficient and ratifying.
Every time he called I was available.
Every time he needed me, I was accessible.
Each time the phone rang I answered.
 My life revolved around his.
But his revolved around him.
And in time, I learned a greater lesson than to loving this so called “friend”.
A girl becomes a woman when she learns to love herself more than she loves a man.

I Am Me

There is something about the air I breathe that blows my breath away.
It might be the scent of peace or the essence of my faith.
But I can feel it either way.
When I am misunderstood, criticized or ignored
I feel the strength to stay grounded and understand myself.
When I get angry, or frustrated, or even annoyed,
I take a breath and find myself in order to feel joy.
I am stuck between the when and why, the what and how, and what is to be.
But even through the trenches of dilemmas and uncertainty
I live through each moment because I am where I want to be.
Through the questions and lost expectations, moving passed them
and answering only to my own inquiries and leaving turmoil behind.
People look at me and see what they want to see.
I am called crazy, and selfish, sometimes even mean.
But the kindness I reveal goes unnoticed by most.
As long as I understand the road that I travel,
The voyage of my soul is my own.
So I can care less about their judgment of me,
Because at the end of each day I am who I want to be.
